John, I heard that using Nexium for heartburn regularly can lead to osteoporosis type breakage of bones and hip. I do not use Nexium but do use generic Omprezole on a regular basis. Will this Omprezole also cause a risk of bone breakage like Nexium warns?

This is a great site, very informative. But wherewas it from 05 to 08 when I coulda used it? Lol...I like and share your philosophy that medicine should not be a cloistered, secretive profession, and that part of our job as healthcare professionals is to translate, share and teach what we know to our patients. Thank you for the resource, on behalf of myself and our patients. Btw if you don't remember me, I was the guy who, when you asked during a break in therapeutics if we had any questions, wondered if you knew what Columbo's first name was. I never did find out.

I am an Africian American woman who has had the pleasure of working with Dr J, I met him several years ago while participating in a year long diabetic study. I consider him a friend. I am a normal person who just happens to have diabetes. He taught me that. Diabetes has not been kind to me and which was partly my fault; but. Dr.J has been very instrumental in helping me "get my act together" with his "flat out" honesty, and down-to-earth approach. I truly know that he is invested in my health. I believe, if more health care providers took some pages out of his book, they would get a much better response from their patients.
