The Good
It is effective at treating mild to moderate pain and fever.
The Bad
This drug is usually very safe with almost no side effects. However, too much can damage your liver. This can happen when you take more than your doctor prescribed or if you combine it with other medications that contain acetaminophen. If your liver is already damaged or if you drink too much alcohol you are at a higher risk. In any case, you should not take more than 3000 mg (3 Grams) per day.
The Controversial
Some doctors believe that the max dose should be 4,000mg per day, while others believe it should be as low as 3,000mg per day. We think it is best to stick with the lower dose.
For The Cynic
The mild pain relief of this drug may not be worth the risk of liver damage.
The Cost
Acetaminophen is available as a generic medication over the counter, meaning, it does not require a prescription to purchase. It is very cheap.
It is very cheap and works well in the treatment of mild to moderate pain., but it is possible to take too much.
