Pravastatin is very similar to the other “Statins”. It is a bit less effective at lowering cholesterol than simvastatin and atorvastatin and about the same as lovastatin.

The one theoretical advantage to Pravastatin is that it is metabolized by the liver in a different way than other statins. It should have less interactions with other drugs and with grapefruit juice.
