Atorvastatin

What is it? Atorvastatin is a statin drug that lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and also triglycerides
What’s in it for me? It can decrease your chance of having a heart attack.
The Good Atorvastatin has a long track record of success in decreasing cardiovascular events.
The Bad Side effects include muscle pains or cramping is a fairly frequent side effect.   Mental clouding, headache and other side effects are a bit controversial.
The Controversial It is clear that statins decrease heart attacks.  They also decrease strokes but the effect is small.  See our Statin Review for help deciding if benefit is worth taking an additional medication for you.
For the Cynic The benefit is small for people at low risk.  See our Statin Review
